About Tim
Who is Tim?
Tim is a human who loves to: write code, tell jokes, play bass guitar, love DIY, enthuse about electronics and technology.
The majority of my work revolves around Web dev, E-Learning and Software development. The tasks range from one-off projects and rapid developments/prototyping to process automation, file converters/transformers and other such tools that make work for other people quicker, easier and less error-prone. I also like to think of myself as a mood lifter and fun person to be around.
I like a good challenge and I'm always looking to learn new skills to tackle them, not just in computing but in life too. While programming is what I do day-to-day, I still try to practice and hone my skills as a musician and as an avid DIYer. I love doing anything that grants me the oppotunity to be creative and build something from nothing. I also like the fact that my job allows me to interact with many different people and communities, and that the work I produce helps people, particularly the E-Learning tasks.
I have magazine subscriptions to ComputerActive, Web User and Linux Format, follow many tech channels on youtube including the likes of LinusTechTips (Floatplane and assoc channels) and spend my commuting time on Dev.to. I feel these are good ways of keeping up-to-date with what's going on in the tech world, current cool tech, threats, and finding new things to learn and fiddle with.
I'm no Linux wizard, but since subscribing to Linux format I now only have 1 machine at home with Windows 10 for rare gaiming and everywhere else I'm trying to impliment the FLOSS philosophy - I don't mind paying cash for software, but what I do mind is paying for anything with my privacy or freedom, but in the current tech age this is a hard thing to work around so there are points where compromises have to be made'
